Find a Major Leaguer’s VBA:

  • StatCast tracks a player’s Launch Angle (Labeled LA)

  • Players with LAs of 9 Degrees or above most definitely have average (29-31 deg.) or above average (32 deg. or above) Vertical Bat Angle’s

  • Pause a video of your favorite player when he makes contact with a ball

    • Pull-Up his StatCast Launch Angle & Compare

      • Does your eye agree with what StatCast says?

VBA differs from player to player.

A VBA between 20-28 degrees is often referred-to as a “Flat Bat” or “Flat VBA”. This often correlates to more Line Drives, Groundballs and Foul-Tips.

A VBA between 29-31 degrees is the average: providing performances somewhere in between the two extremes written above & below.

A VBA Above 32 degrees is a “deeper” VBA, and correlates to more fly-balls.
